The last verse of the acrostic begins with thav, or tav. This Hebrew letter is the emblem of a signature.
When you come to the end of a letter, what do you do? You sign it. This verse is Bathsheba’s – the virtuous woman’s – signature. In marriage, the wife’s signature is written on her husband’s heart. This verse tells us what is written on the heart of her husband. As he looks at his life and the world around him, how has she made teh difference?
“the fruit of her hands” is the harvest she reaps from all she has done for him in their home. In Bathsheba’s case God honored her faithfulness so much that praise of her reached the the highest authorities and governments. Even the officials of King David’s government recognized the blessing brought to David’s life and reign.
The fruit of her hands is seen in her husband’s success in business and his exemplary reputation in the community, possibly even in the nation. But her works are also shown by her children and how they have grown up to become godly, productive and happy citizens.
When we truly believe, there is no need to argue our point. All we have to do is point to the fruit of our life.
