Proverbs 31:29 – Reysh

Reysh, which begins this verse, is the Hebrew letter symbolizing the front of the head. This verse is bringing the husband’s praise directly to his wife’s face.
This husband spoke these words directly to his wife. Husband, you need to tell your wife – not just once, but all the time – that she is the best thing that ever happened to you. If she’s feeling down, don’t buy her a new blender. Tell her what she means to you – to her face (then buy her the blender).
Beyond just complimenting her, this husband is telling her no one is better than she is. He is so in love with her that there is no doubt in his mind that she is the perfect woman to him.
We all have the tendency to wonder whether there is just one person on this earth meant for us, and whether or no the one we are married to is that person. My wife and I have talked about this before. I wondered if she would have been happier with someone else, and she has wondered if I would have been happier with someone else. This verse is the answer.
The Holy Spirit is saying that there are many out there with whom you could be happy, but there is one person who will make you happier than any other – your spouse. There are many excellent women in the world, but none of them could make me happy the my wife does. To me she surpasses them all.
