Proverbs 31:20 – Kaph
[bibleblock]Proverb 31:20[/bibleblock]

The Hebrew letter kaph begins this verse. Kaph is the picture of an outstreched hand, and it indicates giving.
It is the hollow of her hand that the virtuous woman gives to the poor and needy. It is important to note, however, that before she gives to others, she first supplies for her own household. Verse 19 comes before verse 20.
So many Christians, when they first learn the scriptural principles of giving, give away so much that their families suffer. But the Word of God always says to provide for your family first. Once your priorities are in order, then you will always have plenty left over for those who are less fortunate.
This verse raises an important point. The wife and mother is in full-time ministry like almost no one else. She ministers in the home as well as everywhere else she goes during her days. She ministers to her children, to her friends – even to the plumber who has to come fix that broken sink. Remember you do not have to be a pulpit minister to pray for people, lead them to Jesus or give them food and clothing.
Wives, if you are called into ministry, always remember that your home comes first. God can get any believer to go on the road and minister to others, but your husband has only you for his wife, and your children have only you for their mother. God will never call a man or woman into ministry in sacrifice of their home.
The outstretched hand of the virtuous woman is generous and kind, but she will have already met the needs of the family before she reached out to others.
