Proverbs 31:18 – Teyth
[bibleblock]Proverb 31:18[/bibleblock]
![]()
This verse begins with Teyth. Teyth is a symbol for flow, and the flow this verse refers to comes from the virtuous woman’s spirit.
From a directly literal point of view, this represents the woman’s good planning and keeping up with even the minutest detail of topping off the lamps before bed.
Proverbs 20:27 says, “The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord…” This lamp is an oil lamp, and oil is a type of the Holy Spirit in both the Old and New Testament. So the lamp in this verse also is speaking of the virtuous woman’s spirit.
Her spirit does not go out, even late at night, but it burns bright at all times. The strength she exhibits (Prov 31:17) and the perfection she brings forth in all the does (Prov 31:18) are outward manifestations of her spiritual strength and maturity.
She has established her priorities. The Word of God most important, and every day she makes time to study, meditate and pray. Then, whatever happens during the rest of the day, the flow of divine wisdom and strength is never cut off.
Even if there is a drought in the land, their harvest will continue to come in, because she is led by her spirit. She can find the best for her family, because her heart and mind are set on the Lord.
