Proverbs 31:16 – Zayin

The Hebrew letter zayin, which is the shape of a sword, begins verse 16. Zayin represents the virtuous woman’s zeal and tenacity.
When she considers a business transaction – once she has peace from God and confirmation from her husband – she seizes the opportunity and takes full advantage of it. Not only does she purchase the field, but she immediately begins to cultivate it.
She is never satisfied with the status quo, but is continuously looking for more God-given opportunities to improve her family’s way of life and standard of living. She taps into God’s grace more and more.
She knows it is God’s will for her family to succeed, and therefore she takes advantage of every door He opens to her. But she guards against becoming so involved in her business that her family suffers. Instead, her zeal and tenacity in business transactions is to bless them.
