Proverbs 31:13 – Daleth

Verse 13 begins with the Hebrew letter daleth. This Hebrew letter depicts an open door as you are looking down upon it. Daleth represents making decisions.
When Jesus enters our hearts and shows us unconditional love and acceptance, we become secure in who we are. As a result, we become confident in fulfilling His purpose for our lives. Decisions are much easier to make when we know what we are supposed to – and when we know God Himself is backing us up.
When a husband loves his wife as Jesus loves the Church, she becomes bold and confident in all her activities and responsibilities. She doesn’t need to ask him about every move she makes. She seeks wool and flax, which represent the clothes she wears when she goes out into the world.
The last part of this verse is wonderful in the Hebrew. It literally says that “her hands delight in her work”. Now we all know housework is not the greatest pleasure in life, so how could she delight in it? She takes delight in her work because she is doing it for her husband and family, who delight and trust in her.
The same principle holds true for the husband. No matter what mundane tasks he has to do on the job, he can take delight in them, knowing he is providing for her by doing them. Not only do believers do all things as unto the Lord, but husbands and wives carry out their work for each other as well.
One of the most important decisions a married person will make is this: No matter what the day demands, do it gratefully as unto the Lord and for the benefit of your spouse. Delight and trust in each other, and what was boring becomes a joy.
