Proverbs 31:10 – Aleph

[bibleblock]Proverb 31:10[/bibleblock]

Aleph

The first Hebrew letter of this verse is aleph, which is the symbol of prosperity.

Aleph, which indicated great riches, is a picture of two oxen yoked together.  If you owned oxen in the ancient world you were extremely wealthy.  The virtuous women is first compared to oxen because she is her husband’s most valuable gift from God.

The oxen represent tremendous prosperity, and only the very wealthy offered oxen as sacrifices to the Lord.  The virtuous woman is likened to a team of oxen because she is the most important person in her husband’s life other than God.  His relationship with her is a key to his success in every area of his life.  Her value is far above that of jewels.
